Volleyball Swept in Tri-Match

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University completed the first round of USA South Conference volleyball play by dropping home matches to Peace, 3-1, and NC Wesleyan, 3-0.

The Pacers (6-12, 3-6 USA South) opened up the day with a 30-25, 26-30, 31-29, 30-25 victory before NC Wesleyan (12-10, 5-4) downed the Hornets 30-19, 32-30, 30-17 in the day's final match.

The Lady Bishops made it a perfect day by taking a 3-1 (30-21, 30-27, 30-23) in the middle match over PC.

Shenandoah falls to 6-11 overall and 0-9 in the USA South with the two losses.

Sophomore Chevon Parker had a match-high 13 kills for the Hornets in the Peace match, with Michelle Chandler adding 11 kills and Jennifer Thompson 10. Chandler and Thompson also had triple-doubles - Chandler posted 18 assists and 21 digs and Thompson 19 and 23.

Overall, Jennie Haywood led defensively with 24 digs.

Thompson led the way in the NCWC match with nine kills and 19 digs with Chandler's 15 assists leading that category.

Box Scores

Shenandoah hosts Sweet Briar Thursday night in a non-league match.
