NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University celebrated
its No. 1 men's soccer ranking with a 4-0 USA South Conference
victory over Shenandoah University Wednesday night.
The Captains (12-1, 3-0 USA South), who elevated into the No. 1
spot for the first-time ever this week, got all of the offense they
would need just 3:59 into the contest.
Barely 30 seconds later, CNU put Shenandoah (2-8-2, 0-3) away
with a Nao Masuda goal off of a Sam Venker assist.
Venker had scored the game's opening goal.
Christopher Newport added goals in the 29th and 42nd minutes to
provide the final margin of victory.

Bozorgmanesh had three saves for the Hornets.
The hosts outshot SU 21-4 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner
kicks.
Shenandoah continues USA South Conference play on Saturday with
a noon contest at Ferrum.
