WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University completed the
non-conference portion of its women's soccer schedule Wednesday
evening with a 2-1 win over Wesley College.
After Wesley (5-8) scored the opening goal of the game in the
11th minute, Shenandoah (7-6-2) answered with an Amber Womack goal
six minutes before halftime.
The two teams battled through the cold and rain on the Sprint
Field at Shentel Stadium turf for nearly the entire second half
until sophomore Shana Sumers found
classmate Jessi
Dennis in the middle of the box.
Dennis took the feed and ripped her shot into the right side of
the net for the game-winning goal with exactly 100 seconds
remaining.
Hornets keeper Brooke Strickler
had five saves.
SU outshot WC 14-11 while the two teams split four corners.
Shenandoah returns to USA South Conference play with a 4:00
Saturday contest against Ferrum.
