ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Shenandoah University started off its final
weekend of USA South Conference women's soccer action with a 1-1
tie at N.C. Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
After the Bishops (4-11-1, 2-4-1 USA South) opened the scoring
with a Tiara Joyner goal in the 42nd minute, Shenandoah (9-6-3,
4-1-2) battled back in the second half.
The Hornets, who outshot their hosts 15-4 and had 11 of the
game's 15 corners, finally broke through in the 54th minute when Katie
Cataldo headed home an Amber
Womack corner.
After both squads were unable to net the game-winner in
regulation, Shenandoah had all four shots in the 20-minute overtime
but again was denied.
Keeper Brooke
Strickler had one save for SU.
The Hornets complete this trip on Sunday with a 4:00 contest at
Christopher Newport.
