WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Averett University used a pair of Levi Earl goals Saturday afternoon to open the USA South Conference men's soccer season with a 2-1 victory over host Shenandoah.

Earl scored in the fourth minute for the Cougars (6-2-1, 1-0 USA South) and after SU (2-6-2, 0-1) tied it in the 31st, won it with the only goal of the second half.

Earl netted that game-winner on an unassisted tally at 67:49.

Adam Aldinger, the league's leading scorer, converted for Shenandoah with a goal off of a Kyle Farrell assist at 30:08.

SU held a 9-8 advantage in shots and took eight of the game's 10 corners.

Arman Bozorgmanesh had six saves in the loss.

SU travels to Greensboro next Saturday for another USA South Conference match.
