RALEIGH. N.C. - Shenandoah University snapped a two-game women's
soccer losing streak Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 USA South
Conference win over Peace College.
Shenandoah (5-6-1, 2-1-1 USA South) had lost two straight since
opening the USA South Conference season with a win over Methodist
and a tie against Greensboro last weekend.
It didn't take long for the Hornets to open up an advantage
against Peace (1-8, 1-1) - SU scored on its first three shots of
the game and led 4-0 by the 12-minute mark of the contest.
Freshman Kirsten
Olson scored the initial goal off of an Amber
Womack assist at 2:06 before Womack netted the eventual
game-winner in the fifth minute.
After Jessi
Dennis made it 3-0 65 seconds after Womack's tally, Nicole
Gilbertson gave the Hornets a commanding lead with her
goal off of an Olson assist in the 12th minute.
PC scored its only goal in the 40th minute to close out the
scoring in the first half.
Shenandoah scored in the 60th, 69th, 77th and 84th minutes to
provide the final margin of victory.
SU outshot the Pacers 35-9 and took eight of the game's 10
corners.
The Hornets travel to McDaniel on Wednesday for a non-league
contest.
