WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Messiah College sent Shenandoah
University down to its first non-conference volleyball loss of the
season with a 3-0 sweep Friday night at Shingleton Gymnasium.
The Falcons (10-10) won the hard-fought match, winning at 22, 14
and 22 over Shenandoah (10-10).
The two teams traded the lead back and fourth 18 times in the
first set and 13 in the third, but Messiah had the answer on both
occasions to jump to the early lead and then clinch the match.
MC led throughout the middle set.
Sophomore Rachel Maki led
SU in the loss with six kills with Mary
Harshman adding 14 digs and Kelcy Brown 11
assists.
Lauren Rees and Lindsay King each had 11 kills for the victors.
Shenandoah continues out-of-conference play Saturday with a quad
match at Trinity. In addition to the host Tigers, SU faces
PSU-Harrisburg and Hood.
