WESTMINSTER, Pa. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team
opened the first of two games in the 24-hour period with a 3-2
overtime loss at Westminster (Pa.) Friday evening.
Danielle Struble scored the game-winner for the Titans (2-2) in
the 109th minute.
Freshman Amber
Womack tallied the opening goal of the game for SU (1-3) off of
a free kick. Womack's goal, her second of the season, came in the
18th minute.
Nine minutes later, WC tied it on a Brittany Grabski goal before
Lauren Graeser gave the hosts the lead in the 71st
minute on a deflected shot past Hornets keeper Kat Terza.
SU refused to fold, however, and freshman Heather Augustine
made the hard work pay off by tallying the equalizer with just over
five minutes remaining. Augustine scored her first career goal by
knocking it off Titans keeper Jenn Cantella and knotting matters at
2-2.
Terza, who exited the game in the 99th minute, left
after making 17 saves. Classmate Brooke Strickler
came on for Terza and had one save in the remaining time. She also
allowed the game-winner.
Westminster outshot Shenandoah 34-8 and had all six shots in
overtime.
SU is back in action Saturday afternoon at 4:00 against
Washington & Jefferson.
