FROSTBURG, Md. - Host Frostburg State sent the Shenandoah
University field hockey team down to its second straight defeat
Wednesday afternoon with a 3-1 non-league victory.
Freshman Sarah
DeLuca tallied the opening goal of the game for the Hornets
(2-2) when she knocked home a rebound in the 11th
minute.
FSU (4-2) answered back six minutes later and the two teams
headed into the half tied at 1.
Keeper Danielle Lawson made
two of her four saves in the first half of play.
Five minutes into the second half, the Bobcats tallied the
game-winner on a Chelsea Smith goal off of a penalty corner.
Breanne Russell scored the final goal in the 61st
minute.
Frostburg outshot Shenandoah 14-10 and held a 13-4 advantage in
penalty corners.
The Hornets travel to Hood College on Monday for a non-league
contest.
