WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Shepherd University scored the only
goal of the contest in the second half to lead the Rams
to a 1-0 non-league women's soccer victory over host
Shenandoah Wednesday night on Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.
Casey Coles scored the lone goal of the game in the 77th minute
to give Shepherd (2-3-1) the win over Shenandoah (1-4-1).
In the middle of a tight contest, Coles found herself free down
the right side and was able to blast her shot past diving Hornets
keeper Kat Terza.
Shenandoah was held to just eight shots total and two on
goal, but dominated possession in the first half of play. The hosts
ended up with seven of the game's eight corners.
Terza finished with 12 saves in the loss.
The Hornets travel to Roanoke for a Sunday non-league contest.
