FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University suffered through a
difficult Saturday on the volleyball court as the Hornets were
swept by host Methodist as well as Averett in a USA South
tri-match.
The Monarchs (8-1, 2-0 USA South) took the opening set 25-14,
downed the Hornets 25-13 in the middle set and then finished SU off
with a 25-15 in the third and final set.
Sophomore Rachel Maki and
freshman Megan Gillespie
paced Shenandoah (6-3, 0-3) with three kills each while freshman Kelcy Brown
added 12 assists.
Sophomore Amber DeHaven and
freshman Mary
Harshman had nine and eight digs, respectively.
In the Averett match, Gillespie had six kills, Maki, Harshman
and Chevon
Parker four each in the losing effort.
Brown rounded out her day with 16 assists and DeHaven had the
same number of digs.
AU won the match 25-17, 25-16, 25-13.
The women travel to Mary Baldwin on Wednesday for another USA
South match.
