STAUNTON, Va. - Host Mary Baldwin College kept Shenandoah
University from winning its first USA South Conference volleyball
match of the season with a 3-1 win Wednesday evening.
The Squirrels (3-12, 1-4 USA South) outlasted SU (6-4,
0-4) 25-20, 22-25, 27-25, 25-18 before 100 fans at the
Physical Activities Center.
Sophomore Rachel Maki and
freshman Megan
Gillespie led the Hornets with 14 and 12 kills,
respectively.
Junior Amber
DeHaven paced a 75-dig effort by the team with 24 of her
own; she was one of four players to register double-digit digs.
Kelcy
Brown rounded out the players in double figures with 30
assists.
Shenandoah returns to the court on Saturday with a tri-match at
Meredith. In addition to the host Avenging Angels, the Hornets take
on Greensboro at 2.
