Men Tame Mustangs

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team won for the second time in the past three outings Sunday evening with a 3-1 non-league win over Stevenson University.

Senior Adam Aldinger scored the opening for the Hornets (2-5-2) in the fourth minute, and after Stevenson (5-5) got the equalizer 63 seconds later, tallied what proved to be the game winner at 18:38.

Sophomore Kevin Schaeffer assisted on Aldinger's first tally, while Aldinger did all of the work on the second.

In the 69th minute, junior Kyle Farrell gave Shenandoah an insurance goal by ripping a shot from just inside the 18-yard box into the right panel.

The contest was very physical with 18 total fouls called and three yellow cards issued, including one to Stevenson's assistant coach.

Arman Bozorgmanesh had four saves, including three in the second half, for the victors.

The Hornets host Averett on Saturday in their USA South Conference opener. The game is scheduled for a noon start on Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.
