WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University matched a
program-record for field hockey wins with a 3-0
non-conference victory over Sweet Briar Wednesday
afternoon.
With three second half goals over the Vixens, Shenandoah (7-5)
matches the program-record of seven wins set last season.
The win over SBC gives the Hornets a 4-2 record this fall
against ODAC opponents. In addition to the win over Sweet Briar
(2-10), Shenandoah defeated future conference foes Roanoke,
Bridgewater and Virginia Wesleyan.

Garrett tallied what proved to be the game-winner in the
41st minute off an assist from senior Kaitlin Sommer
before the hosts added goals in the 47th and
55th minutes.
Sarah
DeLuca tallied on a flurry in front for the second score
and Paola
Aguilar finished matters off with her ninth goal of the year at
54:09.
Sommer had an assist on Aguilar's tally.
Shenandoah outshot the Vixens 20-7 while SBC had a 9-8 advantage
in penalty corners.
Junior Danielle Lawson did
not have to make a save to post the shutout.
SU is back in action on Saturday at 2:00 in a Commonwealth
Conference game against Alvernia.
The team will also be selling pink ribbons as part of a breast
cancer awareness fund-raiser.
