WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University snapped its four-game men's soccer losing streak with a 5-1 non-league victory Wednesday night over Bluefield College.
The Hornets (4-8-1) rallied for the win as Bluefield (4-10) scored the game's opening goal.
Jake Summer had that opening goal for the Rams, hitting a rocket from 15-yards in the 13th minute.
Shenandoah, which is undefeated at home this season, wasted little time in getting back into the contest.
L.A. St. Hill tied it with his tally off of a Kevin Kupris assist at the 14:04 mark to help send the two teams into the halftime lockeroom knotted at 1.
Eight minutes into the second, freshman Alex Clouse gave the Hornets the lead for good by finishing off a Matt Tanner cross.
Awarded a direct kick 25 yards from goal and just inside the near sideline, Tanner crossed the ball to Clouse, who one-timed his shot at the 18 just under the crossbar.
Kyle Farrell, Kyle Masson and Jarod Clyburn, in the 60th, 75th and 82nd minutes, respectively, provided the hosts with a three-goal cushion down the stretch.
Clouse assisted on all three goals; this is the third-most assists in a game in school history.
SU outshot its visitors 19-12 with Bluefield taking five of the game's nine corners.
Hornets keeper Zac Rogers made six saves to earn his first collegiate victory.
Shenandoah hosts Greensboro on Saturday at 11 a.m. in a USA South Conference match.
