DANVILLE, Va. - Shenandoah University got itself back on the
winning track with a 3-0 USA South Conference women's soccer
victory at Averett University.
Shenandoah (8-5-3, 3-2-1 USA South) scored twice in the first
half before adding a late goal to take out the Cougars (9-5,
5-3).
The win also puts the Hornets back into a tie for third place
and gives them a tie-breaking advantage over second place
Averett.
Sophomore Katie Cataldo put
SU in front to stay with her goal off of an Amber Womack corner
kick in the 16th minute.
Just over two minutes before halftime, freshman Courtney
Boschert made it 2-0 with her conversion of a Brittany
Mason cross.
In the 80th minute, Mason and Womack added their names to the
scoresheet one more time, hooking up for the final tally of the
contest.
Shenandoah completely dominated offensive possession throughout,
taking 28 of the game's 35 shots and 12 of 14 corner kicks.
Junior Kat
Terza had to make just one save to post her third shutout of
the fall.
SU is off until hosting N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday at 2 p.m. in
another USA South Conference contest.
