FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's
volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Sunday afternoon in its
penultimate tri-match of the season.
SU (15-12, 5-11 USA South) was a 3-1 loser to Methodist before
being swept by Averett in the middle match of the afternoon.
The Monarchs (15-11, 6-8 USA South) prevented SU from earning
its sixth conference victory of the season with a 25-19, 11-25,
25-12, 25-17 opening match victory.
Sophomore Mary Harshman and
freshman Haley Smith
paced the Hornets offense with 11 kills each; Harshman had nearly
that entire total (nine) in the set two win.
Harshman, with 12 digs, was also the only SU player to record a
double-double.
Brooke
Strathy and Kelcy Brown had 19
and 15 assists, respectively.
Smith and Rachel Maki had six
kills each in the Averett (20-12, 10-4) match, with Harshman adding
five and Megan Gillispie
four.
Brown and Strathy were the only players in double figures. They
had 10 assists each.
Shenandoah travels to Division II Washington Adventist on
Wednesday for its final non-league match of the year.
