DOVER, Del. – Shenandoah University tied a school season record for women's soccer victories by downing Wesley College 2-1 in non-league action Tuesday evening.
Shenandoah (10-6-3) joins the 1994, '97, 2005 and '09 teams in winning 10 times in a season.
SU has one chance remaining in the regular season to break that school record – on Friday with a 4:00 USA South Conference contest at Mary Baldwin.
Sophomore Amber Womack got the Hornets on the board in the sixth minute with an unassisted goal before setting up classmate Stormie Malik in the 15th minute for the eventual game-winner.
The two teams remained scoreless for the final 30 minutes of the first half with Shenandoah all three of the shots attempted before the break.
Wesley (3-13-1) got itself on the board in the 83rd minute, tallying off of a corner kick, but could not find the equalizer.
Shenandoah took nine of the 13 shots on the night and also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Kat Terza had one save in the first half before turning it over Brooke Strickler for the second half. Strickler did not have a save.
