WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse
team registered its fourth straight victory Monday with a 17-1
non-league win over visiting Hollins University.
The Hornets (5-3) scored the first 13 goals of the game and
never looked back against Hollins (1-2).
It took just 17 seconds for junior Sara Mucciaro to
score the opening goal of the game and SU led 10-0 by the time the
contest was 13 minutes old.
Nine different women scored goals in this opening spurt with
only freshman Morgan
Fields scoring more than one goal.
Junior Jennie
Ott did have four points in this run with a goal and three
assists.
Freshman Corrinne
Kosmowski wrapped a natural hat trick around the halftime
break to give SU a 13-0 lead with just over 17 minutes to play.
Hollins scored its only goal at this point, getting an
unassisted tally from Cait DiMondi at 16:05.
Shenandoah completed the game by scoring four goals in the final
10 minutes.
SU outshot its visitors 34-5, held a 17-2 advantage in draw
controls and scooped up 23 of the game's 30 groundballs.
Kosmowski, with five goals, and Ott, three goals and two
assists, led all players with five points apiece.
SU is off until traveling to Wilson College next Tuesday.
