WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University earned its first men's
lacrosse victory of the 2010 season Wednesday afternoon with a 10-9
non-league win over SUNY-Cobleskill.
Shenandoah (1-5) trailed 8-7 after Shane Morris scored for the
Fighting Tigers (2-3) with just under six minutes to play, but did
not fold its tents.

Cooper tied it for the hosts with his unassisted goal 22
seconds after Morris scored, and then fed senior Joe Avveduti 80
seconds later with the go-ahead goal.
With 2:24 remaining, Cooper capped his strong finish by scoring
another unassisted goal and secured the Hornets first victory in
the process.
Cobleskill cut the deficit in half on a Brian Murphy goal at
2:07, but could not get the equalizer.
Cooper's heroics capped a game in which the two teams traded the
lead four times and were tied on seven others. The largest lead in
the game was two goals and the two teams found themselves within a
goal of each other for all but 4:16 of the 60-minute contest.
Cooper led the victors with three goals and two assists for five
points while freshman Matt
Hendrickson and senior Kevin Totaro both
had two goals and one assist.
Keeper Andrew
Fleischmann made seven saves in posting his first career
victory.
SU held a 27-24 advantage in shots, 41-33 in groundballs and won
11 of 20 faceoffs.
The Hornets are back in action on Saturday in a non-league game
against Misericordia.
