WINCHESTER, Va. - No. 8/23 Shenandoah University extended its
non-league baseball winning streak to 15 games Monday afternoon
with a 24-3 victory over Mount Aloysius.
SU (16-4) scored 11 runs in the first inning as three players:
Kevin
Brashears, Jesse
Henry and Greg Van Sickler,
hit home runs with Henry's being a grand slam. Shenandoah sent 14
men to the plate in the frame with Henry and Van Sickler each
getting two hits.
Mounties (3-12) starter Sean Steffy only lasted 1/3 of an
inning, allowing six runs on six hits. Five of the six hits Steffy
(1-1) allowed went for extra bases.
The Hornets banged out a third-best in school history 26 hits,
with all nine starters getting at least one. Senior Sean Plouffe, the only
player to play all nine innings, was 3 for 7 with three RBI.
Henry finished his day 4 for 5 with four RBI and four runs
scored and Van Sickler had three hits in four at-bats with two
runs batted in.

Hendrickson improved to 2-0 on the season by throwing the
first seven innings and allowing just two unearned runs on eight
hits and one walk. He struck out a career-high 11.
SU used 18 position players and three pitchers, including four
players seeing their first-ever varsity action.
The Hornets are back in action tomorrow against Washington &
Lee.
