WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Keuka College kept Shenandoah
University winless on the 2010 men's lacrosse season with an 11-8
non-league victory Saturday afternoon on Sprint Field at Shentel
Stadium.
After the Hornets (0-3) scored the opening three goals of the
game in the first 15:06, Keuka (1-0) stormed back to take a 4-3
lead by the middle of the second period.
Shenandoah then countered with another three-goal run before
Mark Button answered for the Storm 29 seconds before halftime to
make it 6-5 SU.
The two teams would then be knotted at 6-6 and 7-7 before the
visitors finally took the lead for good by sandwiching a 4-0 spurt
from the 4:22 mark of the third until the 2:46 mark of the fourth.
Freshman Matt
Hendrickson closed out the scoring with an unassisted tally for
the hosts 16 seconds before the final horn.
Senior Kevin
Totaro led Shenandoah with a goal and three assists while
Hendrickson added two goals and an assist.
Goalie Andrew
Fleischmann had five saves.
SU outshot Keuka 46-28, held a 40-29 advantage in groundballs
and won 14 of 21 faceoffs.
Storm goalie Brett Leonard was the difference with 20 saves.
Shenandoah is back in action on Wednesday at Randolph-Macon.
