WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Immaculata University earned its
first CSAC men's lacrosse win of the 2010 season Wednesday evening
with a 14-4 victory over host Shenandoah.
The Mighty Macs (6-4, 1-2 CSAC) never trailed in the game
against Shenandoah (2-7, 0-2).
After Kevin Totaro tied it
for the Hornets with a goal off of a David
Estoclet feed at 9:21 of the first, Immac reeled off seven
straight goals to take an 8-1 lead with just over four minutes to
play in the second quarter.
P.J.
Cooper finally snapped the string with his unassisted goal
49 seconds before halftime, but IU won the ensuing faceoff and
Dante Tuscai found John Cacchio right in front of the Hornets cage
to keep the margin at seven goals.
A pair of Joe Keller goals to start the second half extended the
visitors advantage out to nine before SU closed the third period
with Cooper and Totaro goals at 6:11 and 2:59, respectively.
Unfortunately for the home fans, Totaro's goal, an EMO tally off
of a Gregory
Love assist, would be the final Hornets goal of the evening.
The Mighty Macs solidified the win with all three goals in the
final stanza.
Immac outshot Shenandoah 34-29 and owned a slight (39-36)
advantage in groundballs and faceoffs (13-10).
SU is back in action Saturday at nationally ranked Cabrini.
