WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University ran its women's soccer
winning streak to three games Friday night with a 1-0
non-conference victory over Southern Virginia.
Junior Jessi Dennis once again had the only goal of the contest
for the Hornets (3-2).
Dennis, who had the only tally in a 1-0 victory Tuesday night
over Hood, duplicated that feat Friday before a Sprint Field
at Shentel Stadium crowd of 276.
In the ninth minute, Dennis took a through pass from freshman
Missy Volonino and cracked a 15-yard shot that SVU keeper Mariah
Flake got a hand on.
Unfortunately for Flake, she could only partially deflect the
shot, and the bouncing ball found its way into the net for what
proved to be the only goal of the game.
Shenandoah had further changes in the contest, forcing Flake to
make three saves, but could not add to its advantage.
Hornets keeper Kat Terza had two make two saves, one in each
half, to post her second win of the season.
SU is back in action on Wednesday with a home non-league match
against Bridgewater. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
