OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Host Stevenson University kept its men's
soccer record perfect Tuesday afternoon with a 2-1 overtime victory
over Shenandoah.
The Mustangs (6-0) got the game-winner in the 105th minute when
John Adamo converted a Ansger Otto left-wing feed and tucked the
ball just inside the post.
Shenandoah (2-4) forced the nearly extra 15 minutes of time
after freshman Kevin Kupris
tied it in the 60th minute with his blast from 22 yards out.
The two teams battled for the remaining 30 minutes of
regulation, trading a total of seven shots (four for Stevenson,
three for the Hornets) in that span.
The Mustangs kept up the pressure in the opening overtime
session, taking five of the eight shots and one more in the second
OT before getting the game-winner.
Stevenson also held a 3-2 advantage in corners.
Shenandoah keeper Adrian
Acosta made three saves in the losing effort.
The Hornets return to action Saturday with an away match at
Washington & Lee before hosting a Sunday night 6:00 non-league
game against Marymount.
