FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University opened up its 2010
USA South Conference women's soccer schedule with a 1-1 tie at
Methodist University Saturday afternoon.
It is the third straight game that Shenandoah (3-2-3, 0-0-1 USA
South) has played to a draw.
However, unlike a 2-2 draw with Bridgewater last week and a 1-1
tie against McDaniel earlier this week, SU scored first against the
Monarchs (6-1-1, 0-0-1).
Freshman Kelsey Pendleton finished off an Amber Womack feed 64
seconds into the second half to put the Hornets out front.
Unfortunately for SU, Methodist got the equalizing goal with
just over four minutes to play in regulation.
Junior Danielle Mininchello, a two-time All-USA South selection,
tied it for the hosts off a Jillian Reed cross at 85:23.
Shenandoah peppered the MU goal with seven shots and had the
only corner kick in the 20-minute overtime, but was unable to get
the golden goal.
Junior keeper Kat Terza had to make just two saves in the
contest.
The Hornets continue conference play with a 2:00 Sunday contest
at Greensboro.
