HARRISONBURG, Va. - Shenandoah outshot host Eastern Mennonite
Tuesday night in non-league women's soccer action, but the Royals
made the most of their opportunities in a 2-0 victory.
After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the opening 45
minutes, EMU (2-6-1) struck twice midway through the second half to
down the Hornets (3-4-3).
Melissa Miller what proved to be the game-winner for the Royals
with a goal at 55:50 before Taylor Wenger tallied an insurance goal
at 67:08.
Shenandoah outshot Eastern Mennonite 15-12, including 12-5 in
the first half, and also had all six of the corner kicks awarded,
but could not find the back of the net.
EMU keeper Abby Diffenbach had six saves to a total of seven for
Hornets Kat
Terza and Brooke Strickler. Terza had four in the first half
before turning it over to Strickler for the start of the
second.
SU returns to USA South Conference play this Saturday at home
against Meredith. Please note the new kickoff time of 1 p.m. for
this contest.
Sunday's game against Peace remains a 2:00 start.
