WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University earned its second
straight women's soccer victory with a 1-0 non-league win over Hood
College Tuesday evening.
Junior Jessi Dennis gave the Hornets (2-2) the victory with her
goal off of a Jenna Kline assist in the 68th minute.
From 25 yards out Kline served a ball across the face of the
goal and into the six-yard box, where Dennis ran onto it and
redirected her shot past HC keeper Rachelle Buhrman.
Buhrman, who had six saves for the Blazers (2-1), had no chance
on the shot.
Shenandoah had other opportunities in the contest, outshooting
its guests 13-5 in the game, but Dennis' tally proved to be the
lone goal of the game.
Hornets backup keeper Brooke Strickler, who replaced starter Kat Terza three minutes before Dennis' goal, made three saves to earn
her first win of the season.
SU also held a 3-1 advantage in corners.
The Hornets continue this homestand on Friday night at 7 in a
non-league matchup against Southern Virginia.
