Women's Soccer Stings Cards

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Shenandoah University ran its women's soccer winning streak to four games with a 2-1 non-league victory over Catholic University of America Tuesday afternoon.

The Hornets (10-5) scored in the 32nd and 41st minutes to dispatch CUA (7-5).

Catholic had taken the early lead on a Courtney Orgill goal in the 16th minute, but SU rallied for for the second time in as many non-league games.

Junior Amber Womack, who was named as the USA South Conference Player of the Week on Monday, brought the game back to level with her unassisted goal at 31:05.

Just under 10 minutes later, sophomore Jenna Kline set freshman Kelly Miles up for the game-winner.

The Cardinals outshot Shenandoah 29-10, although SU held a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal. CUA had five of the game's six corners.

Alyssa Plourde had six saves to earn the victory.

The 10 wins marks the third straight year that the Hornets have reached double-digit victories.

Shenandoah is off until hosting Ferrum next Saturday at 2:00.
