ARLINGTON, Va. - Host Marymount University prevented Shenandoah University from earning its 15th volleyball victory of the season with a 3-1 non-league win Thursday night.
The Saints (10-14) won at 13 and 20 in the first two sets before SU (14-13) won 26-24 in the third to extend the match.
Marymount then clinched the match with a victory at 19 in the fourth.
Senior Rachel Maki and freshman Rachel Gross paced the Hornets with eight kills each with sophomore Haley Smith adding seven.
Junior Mary Harshman led the defensive effort with 14 digs.
Brooke Strathy and Kelcy Brown combined for 37 assists.
SU returns to USA South Conference play on Saturday with a tri-match at Averett. The Hornets take on the host Cougars at noon before facing Methodist at 2.
