WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team earned its second straight non-conference victory with a 2-1 win over future ODAC rival Bridgewater Thursday night.
Junior John Peterman scored both goals for the Hornets (2-7-1) via penalty kick.
In the 22nd minute, Peterman slipped a shot just inside the left post for the initial goal of the game.
Then, in the 88th minute, Shenandoah was awarded a second PK after Kevin Kupris was taken down just inside on the box as he attempted a scoring run.
Peterman again stepped to the spot and drilled a low liner into virtually the same position as his first-half conversion; this goal held up as the game-winner.
Peterman's second PK became the game-winner because three minutes prior Zach Malpass headed home a Kevin Gorman cross to tie the game for the Eagles (4-8).
That header was the 11th of 13 shots Bridgewater had on the evening. BC outshot Shenandoah 13-9 and both goalkeepers had three saves.
The Eagles also had seven of the game's 13 corners.
The Hornets are back in action Saturday afternoon in a 3:30 USA South Conference matchup against Averett.
