WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University earned its sixth consecutive women's lacrosse victory of the season with a 21-7 win over non-conference opponent Wesley College Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (6-2) scored the first six goals of the game and eventually led 13-4 at halftime. Sophomore Corrinne Kosmowski paved the way for the Hornets with three goals and three assists in the first half of action.
The Hornets continued their dominance in the second half against Wesley (2-6), scoring the first six goals of the second stanza. WC finally stopped the bleeding with a three-goal run, but never seriously threatened.
SU closed out the contest with the final two goals.
Freshman Samantha Sisson led the victors with four goals while Kosmowski finished with three goals and three assists. Amy Rollins, Ashley Heroth, Sara Mucciaro, Sydney Anderson and Rebecca Durkin all had two goals.
Shenandoah outshot the visitors 42-19, grabbed 19 of 33 groundballs and won 19 of 33 draw controls.
Ashley Cross had eight saves in the winning effort.
Wesley was led by Mia Brocco and Nina Cornog with two goals apiece.
SU gets back into USA South Conference play with a 2 p.m. showdown tomorrow against North Carolina Wesleyan.
