Women's Lax Defrocks Bishops

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team completed a perfect week with a 22-1 USA South Conference victory over N.C. Wesleyan Sunday afternoon.

Shenandoah (7-2, 4-0 USA South) completed a 4-0 week with the dominating victory over the Bishops (0-7, 0-3).

The Hornets have won seven straight games after an 0-2 start.

Sophomore Corinne Kosmowski got things started with Sunday a goal off a Sara Mucciaro assist just 39 seconds into the contest and her club never looked back.

SU, which led 15-1 at the break, held NCWC to four shots total in the contest while taking 34 of its own.

Freshman Samantha Sisson set up Amy Rollins for the game winner 17 seconds after Kosmowski's goal and the Hornets led 4-0 before Wesleyan tallied its only goal.

Lauren Young had that lone goal for the Bishops at 26:57 of the first.

Fifteen different women registered at least one point for the victors with Melissa Morgan leading all scorers with two goals and three assists for five points.

Samantha Donaghy and Rollins had three goals, Morgan Thomas and Kierra Nicholson two goals and two assists and Jennie Ott two goals and an assist to lead the multiple goal scorers.

Rollins also had an assist.

Shenandoah outshot NCWC 34-4, grabbed 22 of 31 groundballs and owned a 17-7 advantage in groundballs.

SU will host non-conference opponent Frostburg State this Thursday at 3:30 at Shentel Stadium.
