MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Neumann University scored three unanswered goals Saturday afternoon to down Shenandoah University in the opening game of the Wilson College field hockey Invitational.
Shenandoah (1-3) scored the opening goal of the game at 14:10 with an unassisted Maria Payne tally.
Unfortunately for the Hornets, the lead was short-lived.
Neumann (1-2) tied the game just 17 seconds after Payne's goal and then added a pair in the second half to take the victory.
With the win, the Knights move on to Sunday's championship game against host Wilson.
SU will play at 10 a.m. in the consolation game against Wells (N.Y.). This game, like today's contest, will be played at Mercersburg Academy.
Callie Emel, who tied the game for NU, had the game-winener at 37:21.
Shenandoah outshot Neumann 17-14 and owned a 12-10 advantage in penalty corners.
Hornets goalie Sarah Clare made six saves.
