MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Shenandoah University snapped its three-match field hockey losing streak with a 4-0 victory over Wells College Sunday morning in the consolation game of the Wilson College Tournament.
Junior Sarah DeLuca tallied the game-winner for SU (2-3) in the sixth minute off an assist from senior Christian Yokiel; this was the only goal of the first half.
Shenandoah turned the game into a rout with three goals in an 11-minute span late in the second.
Amber VanHorn scored in the 54th minute before Maria Payne finished off a DeLuca feed 2:22 after VanHorn's insurance goal.
Junior Megan Garrett set up VanHorn's goal.
Yokiel then closed the book with an unassisted goal at 64:47.
Sarah Clare had seven saves in the win as SU outshot the Express 20-8 and had a 14-5 advantage in penalty corners.
The Hornets continue non-conference play with a game at Hood College Monday afternoon.
