Hockey Extinguishes Blazers

FREDERICK, Md. - The Shenandoah University Field Hockey team earned its second win in as many days with a 2-0 non-league victory at Hood College.

One day after shutting out Wells College, sophomore Maria Payne scored one goal in each half to give Shenandoah (3-3) the victory over the Blazers (1-1).

The Hornets were dominant on both ends of the field, outshooting their hosts 27-4 for the contest and winning 11 of 13 penalty corners awarded.

Junior Sarah DeLuca set up Payne's first goal, in the 10th minute, before Amanda Mittelkamp fed Payne in the 46th minute to give SU the insurance tally.

Sophomore Sarah Clare did not have to make a save in posting her second consecutive shutout.

SU is back on the field on Thursday with a non-league match at York (Pa.).
