Soccer Soars Over Eagles

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team won for the third time in the past four outings Tuesday afternoon with a 1-0 non-league victory over Bridgewater College.

Shenandoah (3-2) got a Katie Cataldo goal off an Amber Womack assist in the 70th minute to send BC (5-1) down to defeat for the first time this season.

The contest continues a trend of the two teams playing close games - SU and the Eagles battled to tie games in 2008 and 2010 while Bridgewater was a 1-0 winner in 2009.

Tuesday's game also marks the end of the non-league series between the two teams. In 2012, the game in Winchester will be an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest.

Hornets keeper Kat Terza registered her second straight shutout in the win, making three of her five saves in the opening half.

Terza now has 12 career shutouts and needs just two more to tie Lauren Elliott '07 for the career record at Shenandoah.

BC outshot the Hornets 15-7 for the game and had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Shenandoah continues this road swing with a 4:30 game Thursday afternoon at Hood College.
