Hockey Falls to FDU-Florham

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team completed its play in the 2011 Black-Eyed Susan Tournament hosted by Stevenson University with a 4-1 loss to FDU-Florham Sunday afternoon.

The Devils (3-0) jumped all over SU (1-2) for three goals in the first 28 minutes of the contest.

Megan Springmeyer scored both the opening goal and what proved to be the game-winner with tallies at 9:37 and 12:12.

Shenandoah was held without a shot in the opening half as FDU took that 3-0 advantage into the halftime lockerroom.

After another Devils goal at 39:03, junior Sarah DeLuca got on the board for the Hornets with an unassisted goal at 51:25.

Sophomore Justina Ludwig had six saves in the losing effort.

SU is back in action this coming weekend at the Wilson College Tournament. The Hornets play Neumann (Pa.) in Saturday's opening round.
