ASHLAND, Va. - Host Randolph-Macon scored the final three goals of the game Saturday to rally for a 3-2 ODAC field hockey victory over Shenandoah Saturday morning.
Shenandoah (9-7, 3-4 ODAC) scored the opening two goals of the contest only to see the Yellow Jackets (8-9, 6-1) rally in the second half.
Freshman Presha Merritt gave SU the early lead with the only goal of the first as she converted an Amber VanHorn feed in the 29th minute.
Senior Hannah Johnson tallied unassisted 6:09 into the second half to give the visitors the two-goal advantage.
Unfortunately, Macon had a rally in itself.
The 'Jackets scored in the 52nd, 60th and 64th minutes, the last on a corner, to steal the victory.
Shenandoah outshot its hosts 15-11 with Macon holding an 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.
SU keeper Sarah Clare had five saves with R-MC goalie Nicole Woodworth making 11 stops.
The Hornets conclude regular season play at home on Wednesday night against Eastern Mennonite. The winner of this game will likely host the other in the opening round of the ODAC Tournament.
