LEXINGTON, Va. - Seventh-seeded Shenandoah University has extended its women's soccer season with a 3-2 double overtime victory over No. 2 Washington and Lee Saturday in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Freshman Harmon Hall finished off a Hannah Oakes feed in the 103rd minute to give SU (9-10-1) the victory over W&L (14-3-1).
Shenandoah had scored the initial goal of the game, when Kari Delamarre-Brand touched in a Hall corner kick in the 28th minute, only to see the Generals score in the 38th and 42nd minutes to take a 2-1 lead.
The game stayed that way until just 73 seconds remained when Oakes took a long through pass from Katie Cataldo and finished off a breakaway.
The two teams combined for five shots in the first 10-minute overtime before SU had two chances, the second Hall's in the second sudden-victory period.
The Generals outshot SU 18-10, including 9-4 in the second half, but Hornets keeper Nichole Pratt had six saves to help keep her side in it.
W&L also had a 14-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Shenandoah will meet No. 2 Lynchburg in a Wednesday semi-final round contest.
