HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team saw its two-game winning streak snapped with a 9-4 CSAC loss at Centenary (N.J.) Saturday afternoon.
The Cyclones (4-7, 2-3 CSAC) scored four of the five goals in the first quarter and never looked back against SU (2-12, 1-4).
Leading 2-1 after Mac Hedrick scored for Shenandoah off of a David Estoclet assist, CC reeled off four straight to take a 6-1 lead by the 11:39 mark of the second.
Junior Bryan Pope snapped that scorless drought for the Hornets by converting a Sean Mack assist, but SU would get no closer than four goals the rest of the way.
Hedrick, off of a Mack assist, and Pope (unassisted) put together a two-goal run that surrounded the end of the third, but Cameron Gunn answered unassisted for the Cyclones at 6:16 provide the final margin of victory.
Centenary had a 35-27 advantage in shots, scooped up 50 of 87 groundballs and won 11 of 17 faceoffs.
Tyler Quinn had 15 saves for the Hornets.
Shenandoah continues CSAC play next Saturday at Marywood.
