CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College tallied all three goals Friday night in a 3-0 non-league men's soccer victory over Shenandoah in the season opener for both schools.
Washington (1-0) scored 42 seconds before halftime to take a lead it would not relinquish over the Hornets (0-1) before adding two more following the intermission.
The Shoremen, on a Chris Nardo goal in the 61st minute, gave themselves some second half breathing room.
A Matt Wilfong tally off of a double assist closed out the scoring at 76:15.
WC outshot Shenandoah 18-7, including 11-3 in the second half.
SU held a 6-5 advantage in corners.
James Dutcher had five of his nine saves in the final 45 minutes.
Shenandoah hosts Goucher on Sunday at 1:00 in its home opener.
