WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University set new program records for goals and points in a game in the process of the 13-0 non-league field hockey victory over Notre Dame (Md.).
Senior Sarah DeLuca scored the first of her five goals on the night at the 3:53 mark and the Hornets (4-2) were off to the races.
SU added first half tallies in the 8th, 10th, 11th, 20th, 31st, 34th and 35th minutes to take an 8-0 lead into the break against the Gators (0-4).
The second half brought more of the same, with goals in the 43rd, 45th, 49th, 53rd and 61st minutes to set a new record for goals in the game.
The 13 goals more than doubles the previous record of six goals set against Sweet Briar in October, 2009.
Eleven different women registered at least one point with DeLuca leading all players with 11 points on five goals and one assist.
DeLuca, with the 11 points, and freshman Alexandra Darrow, with seven points on three goals and one assist, now have the top two individual performances in school history.
SU outshot NDM 54-0 and had all 14 penalty corners.
Shenandoah returns to action on Saturday night at Stevenson. Game time is 6:00.
