WINCHESTER, Va. – For the third straight time on its home turf, the Shenandoah University women's soccer team battled Bridgewater to a tie contest in an ODAC game Wednesday evening.
Shenandoah (2-5-1, 0-1-1 ODAC) and Bridgewater (5-2-1, 2-1-1) battled to a scoreless tie in 2008 and played a 2-2 draw in 2010.
In 2009 and 2011, the two squads traded one goal victories in Bridgewater.
Befitting two teams that have played so evenly in the past five years, SU and BC traded goals Wednesday evening.
Ashley Crossman tallied the opening goal of the game for the Eagles, scoring off of a Krissy Snyder assist in the 13th minute.
Junior Hannah Oakes brought the game back to level by converting a penalty kick in the 16th minute before Bridgewater re-took the lead on a Jacey Kelley goal in the 33rd minute.
Shenandoah once again had an answer, getting a Brittany Butcher tally two minutes after Kelley's goal.
Butcher finished off a through pass from Courtney Stull to tie the game.
The two teams then played the final 10:55 of the first half, 45:00 in the second and 20 minutes of overtime without getting another tally.
BC had a 17-11 advantage in shots with SU taking two of three in the extra session.
The Eagles had a slight, 5-3, edge in corners.
Hornets keeper Nichole Pratt made six saves.
Shenandoah continues ODAC play on Saturday at 2:00 with a home match against Sweet Briar.
