VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Host Virginia Wesleyan scored a pair of goals in each half to down Shenandoah University 4-0 Wednesday afternoon in ODAC women's soccer action.
The Marlins (9-0-1, 4-0-1 ODAC) scored their first two goals in a 34-second span midway through the first to pull away from SU (3-6-1, 1-2-1).
Kerry Knauss had what proved to be the game-winner on an unassisted tally at 20:58 before Kaitlyn Clunan converted a penalty kick at 21:32.
VWC added insurance goals in the 72nd and 80th minutes to provide the final margin of victory.
Virginia Wesleyan outshot Shenandoah 25-10 and took five of the game's nine corner kicks.
Shenandoah keeper Nichole Pratt made seven saves.
The Hornets continue ODAC play with a 1:00 game Saturday at Randolph.
