HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team kept its unbeaten ODAC record intact Tuesday evening with a 2-1 victory at Eastern Mennonite.
Senior Courtney Boschert scored the opening goal of the game for the Hornets (6-4-1, 4-0-1 ODAC) with her goal off of an Anna Wilson pass in the 35th minute.
Boschert dribbled through a host of EMU (7-3, 2-2) defenders before sending the ball across the front of the goal and into the left panel.
Thirteen minutes into the second half, freshman Alysha McCleaf gave SU some breathing room as she turned and ripped a shot just under the crossbar from the top of the 18-yard box.
McCleaf's goal proved to be the game-winner as the Royals, who were outshot 27-7 for the game, cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 86th minute.
Shenandoah then held its hosts without a shot in the remaining 4:52 to preserve the victory.
Freshman Erin Septer had to make just two saves in registering the win.
SU also held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Hornets return home on Saturday to take on Lynchburg in a 2:00 ODAC contest.
