Women's Soccer Shuts Out Quakers

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's soccer team continued its march to a home ODAC Tournament game by downing visiting Guilford 1-0 Saturday afternoon on the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf.

Senior Brittany Mason scored the lone goal of the game to propel the Hornets (8-5-1, 6-1-1 ODAC) over Guilford (1-14, 1-7).

Freshman Anna Wilson fed Mason for that tally in the 11th minute, and from then on the SU defense took over to make the goal stand up as the game-winner.

Shenandoah allowed just one Quakers shot on the day and forced GC to play from its own end for the vast majority of the contest.

Coach Liz Pike's club took 22 shots, including 14 in the second half, to keep the pressure on its visitors.

The Hornets also took all 12 of the game's corner kicks.

SU keepers Erin Septer and Nicole Pratt combined on the shutout, with Septer making the lone save.

Septer played the initial 58:45 before turning it over to Pratt.

With the win, the Hornets maintain at least a third-place position in the conference standings. The top four teams will host the first round of the upcoming ODAC Tournament.

Shenandoah hosts Virginia Wesleyan on Friday night at 7 p.m. in an important ODAC contest.
