HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team has clinched a spot in the upcoming ODAC Tournament thanks to a 1-0 win over host Eastern Mennonite Wednesday evening.
Shenandoah (8-9, 4-2 ODAC) scored the game's lone goal when sophomore Sarah Brock slapped home a rebound of a saved shot 4:23 into the second half against EMU (3-13, 3-3).
The win puts SU three games ahead of seventh place Virginia Wesleyan and Roanoke with two games remaining in the league schedule.
Thanks to last week's win over Washington and Lee, the Hornets will enter the tournament no worse than the fifth seed.
Shenandoah can still clinch a home game at the tournament with wins in its final two ODAC contests.
SU finishes the league slate with games at Roanoke on Saturday and home against Randolph-Macon one week from today.
Senior Sarah Clare had 10 saves to post the shutout victory Wednesday night - six of her saves came in the first half.
The Hornets were outshot 18-11 and saw Eastern Mennonite win six of the game's 10 corners.
SU travels to Roanoke on Saturday for a 2:00 contest.
