ASHLAND, Va. – No. 11/12 Shenandoah University completed its week with an ODAC baseball doubleheader split with Randolph-Macon Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (14-4, 7-3 ODAC) came back to win 8-4 in the nightcap after Macon (8-9, 4-4) was a 10-9 victor in the opener.
SU had 14 hits in game two, with junior Andrew Creamer leading the way with a 3 for 5 performance that included three RBI and a home run.
The dinger was one of two he had on the afternoon – in the opener, he had a three-run HR that brought SU to within one, 10-9, in the top of the ninth.
His game two home run gave Shenandoah a lead it would not relinquish.
Freshman Michael Scimanico (3-0) earned the win with 4 1/3 innings of relief work. Scimanico walked six, struck out three and allowed just one before turning it over to classmate Cameron Lundmark with two outs in the eighth and the tying run at the plate.
Lundmark got that hitter, Jon Witt, to strikeout looking and then induced three flyouts in the ninth to post his third save of the spring.
In addition to Creamer's three hits, Corbin Lucas, John Wilt, Daniel Freshley and Billy Arens all had two.
J.J. McDaniel had three hits in the opener with Joe Bittner driving in a pair.
Shenandoah is scheduled to host Wesley on Monday at 4:00 in a non-league contest.
