Crusaders Snap Men's Lax Winning Streak

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team saw its season-opening three-game winning streak snapped with a 15-6 non-league loss at Susquehanna Thursday afternoon.

The Hornets (3-1) got a Sean Ohlhaver goal to open the contest, but the Crusaders (3-2) reeled off nine straight to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Shenandoah was held scoreless from 13:39 of the first, when Ohlhaver scored to open the game, until Matt Justice tallied with just 4:46 remaining before halftime.

In between, the hosts scored nine goals from four different players to take a 9-3 lead into the halftime intermission.

Austin Lein had four of his team-high five goals during this run.

Justice' goal did start a three-goal Hornets run that made the score 9-4 early in the third, but Susquehanna answered at 8:27 to push the margin back to five goals.

Coach Mike Kruger's club would get no closer than the five-goal deficit the rest of the way.

Connor Bishop and Seth Fisher had the final two goals of the game for Kruger's club.

Ohlhaver paced the visitors with two goals and one assist.

Susquehanna had a 40-24 advantage in shots and scooped up 35 of the game's 64 groundballs. The Hornets won 15 of 24 faceoffs, including 7 of 11 in the second half.

Tyler Quinn made seven saves in playing the initial 45 minutes of the game.

Shenandoah hosts SUNYIT on Sunday in a 1:00 non-league contest.
